FROM EXPERIENCE
It started with our own home.
When my wife Yankı and I bought our first condo in Toronto, we thought we'd found it. We hadn't — designed to minimums, not real life. Expecting our first child, we moved to Oakville for an older 1970s home in a neighbourhood we loved. Over $150,000 in renovations later, the floors were new the bones weren't. That frustration stuck.
Meanwhile, we looked at how to make weekends count. A cottage? Half a million for a small cabin. A tiny home? Legally and practically out of reach. The system felt broken — especially for young families just trying to build a life.
So I started studying it — how cities like Toronto were solving housing, and how the rest of the world was.
That's when I found modular construction — homes built the way we build cars, with consistency and quality. And in California, I saw where it worked best: backyard homes (ADUs) on existing lots, already at scale.
That logic belonged here too — in Canadian backyards, for the families who already love where they live.
That became Visioom.
We didn't set out to start a housing company — we set out to solve a problem we lived through, and realized thousands of others were living it too.
